After the presentation had done, the task that need to complete this FYP is by making a thesis report about the project. So, the previous progress report is important as it can be a reference for me to complete the thesis. This was a part of my thesis report that I will show in this blog. 








This thesis was submitted and checked by my supervisor. I hope this thesis can help me gain a good result for this course.

FINAL YEAR PROJECT 2 (WEEK 11):Circuit construction

Objectives:
1) To construct the full circuit connection.
2) To construct the hardware circuit.
2) To make sure that have a connection on the strip board.


Methods:
1) By doing research in the internet
2) Using strip board to construct the circuit


By doing part by part of the components used, the programming and the circuit construction can be checked and troubleshoot if tit had an error. If there was no error when written the program, the program can be interface with the circuit construction and the HEX file was read in the circuit construction part.  The output of the project was referred to the LCD display. If the LCD displayed a character, it means that the program was running successfully with the circuit construction.

Conclusion:
This week I am going to learn how to connect the full circuit. If one of the circuit connection had an error, the troubleshoot is needed so that the circuit can run the programming smoothly.

FINAL YEAR PROJECT 2 (WEEK 10): Hardware Construction

Objectives:
1) To construct hardware circuit.
2) To make sure that have a connection on the strip board.

2) Using strip board to construct the circuit




The hardware part had been constructed after bought the components. For hardware development, the construction of the circuit was not successfully developed because the circuit constructed had some problems occurred and need to troubleshoot. The problems that had occurred during this project were the arrangement of the components where the IC pins used and the current flow on the strip board need to connect in the correct position.  Apart from that, the soldering part problems had occurred. The board was not properly soldered and when soldered again the components on the strip board, the circuit connection on the board may had burned. Besides that, the soldering at the components pins too bulky and that was why the problem had occurred on the circuit construction. If all the components were fully constructed with no error, the programming will be burned in the AT89S52 microcontroller. If the programming burned in the AT89S52 microcontroller that had been constructed on the strip board and the LCD displayed a character on it, it was showed that the programming was running successfully on the hardware construction circuit.

Conclusion:
This week I am going to learn to solve the problems that had occurred during construct the hardware circuit. Besides that, the programming that burned into the microcontroller also can be a problem and this make me learn how to solve the problems.

FINAL YEAR PROJECT 2 (WEEK 9): Objective and Methodology

Objectives:

Objectives of this project:

1) Awareness
Checks the wearing of helmet and drunken driving

2) Auto information
Locates the place of accident and intimates it to emergency service.

Methodology Procedure

When the system is switched on, LED will be on indicating that power is supplied to the circuit. The system applied when the motorcyclist had a crashed, the helmet hits the ground and the vibration sensor detects the vibrations that were created when the helmet hits the ground. The microcontroller detected the accident occurred using vibration sensor which is placed in the helmet. After the microcontroller detects the accident occurrence, it will send Short Message Service containing an information about the accident and location of the accident using GSM and GPS modules. The GPS receives the location of the accident. This message sent to a mobile number through a message. This message received by using GSM modem present in the circuit. This message contained the latitude and longitude value and the position of the vehicle can be estimated. The GPS and GSM module was running by using the microcontroller. The alcohol sensor is used to sense the alcoholic content whether the motorcyclist drunken or not. If the alcohol was detected, it gave information to the microcontroller to inform on LCD display the person was drunk. This can be a little bit help for the helper to know the condition of the motorcyclist.



Conclusion:
By making researches in the internet, the objectives and methodology for this project can be used as a reference for readers or the project can be improved in the future.

FINAL YEAR PROJECT 2 (WEEK 8): Flowchart

Objectives:
1) To make a progress about my presentation and final report
2) To produce a good final report as a reference in the future

Method:

2) By using Microsoft Visio to produce a flowchart


The above flowchart shown was the Overall Process of the project development. The title of the project had been chosen at the first through the trusted website. The title obtained from the website was the Development of Smart Helmet by using Microcontroller. The literature review was carried out after the title selection. The background information of the project had been explained thoroughly in literature review section. The previous and present devices also had been discussed in this literature review so that the devices can be compared. Thus, the devices used in the project can be improved. Next, the circuit was designed by using Proteus and the coding had been written using KeilVision4 software. The program was saved in HEX file so that the circuit design can be simulated. If the circuit design and the programming had a success, the hardware implementation can be done after it but if the circuit design had an error, the circuit needed to be design and simulated again. After the simulation part had been success, the hardware implementation is the next process that need to be done. With the budget expected, the components had been bought and the circuit was constructed on a strip board. The program had been executed and burned into the microcontroller so that the result of the circuit can be obtained whether the circuit was functional or not. If the hardware implementation was a success, the demonstration and the project will be the next process that need to be done but if it was not, the circuit need to construct or check the wiring problem which may occurred during solder the components on the strip board. 


The flowchart of the project development was above given. The given situation is when the motorcyclist had an accident only. When the motorcyclist met with accident and  had a crashedthe helmet hits the ground and the vibration sensor detects the vibrations that are created when the helmet hits the ground. The microcontroller detects the accident by using vibration sensor which is placed in the helmet. The microcontroller detects the accident occurrence and it will send an SMS containing information about the accident and location of accident using GSM and GPS modules. The GPS receives the location of the vehicle that met with an accident and gives the information back. This information will be sent to a mobile number through a message. This message will be received using GSM modem present in the circuit. The message will give the information of longitude and latitude values. Using these values the position of the vehicle can be estimated.The GPS and GSM module is running by using the microcontroller. Other than that, the alcohol sensor is used to sense the alcoholic content whether the motorcyclist drunken or not. If the alcohol was detected, it gave information to the microcontroller to informed on LCD display the person is drunk. This will be a little bit help for the helper to know the condition of the motorcyclist. 

Conclusion:

This week I learn how to produce a good flowchart. By using the Microsoft Visio software, it helps me to design the flowchart. By making researches in the internet, the flowchart need an explanation so that the readers will understand the flow of the project. The two flowcharts that I had made was the overall process to develop the project and the process flow during the situation that I decide to make.
